Seal Beach was first known
as Bay City, but so as not to be confused with the Bay City in Northern
California, when it came time to incorporate on October 25, 1915 our lovely
city was named Seal Beach.In the early
days many people flocked to Seal Beach as a getaway from Los Angeles and
surrounding metropolitan areas, and they came on the Pacific Electric Railway
otherwise known as the Red Car.Among
Seal Beach’s famous attractions was a large wooden roller coaster on the beach,
the second largest pier in California, a dance hall and of course the seals
that used to line the beach.
Today, Seal Beach is a
haven for those in search of a quiet, hometown atmosphere.Community events such as The Antique Car
Show, The Lion’s Club Fish Fry, The Annual Christmas Parade, The Summer Concert
Series, and the 5K/10K Run/Walk bring the residents together for fun and
entertainment.Strolling along Seal
Beach’s Main Street is a favorite pastime for local residents as well as
visitors.The charming three block
corridor is home to local retailers, bars and restaurants.In Seal Beach there is something for
